Did you know that 1 in 5 Arkansans do not know where their next meal is coming from? Also, 1 in 5 children in Arkansas struggle with food insecurity. Many of these families depend on school lunch to feed their children and are now conflicted due to schools having to close down due to COVID-19. The virus outbreak has also caused many job losses and families are struggling to put food on the table.
However, in the midst of the world’s pandemic, Arkansas Dream Center is helping out our neighborhoods by providing meals to kids and families in need. With five mobile trucks, vending meals from Pepsico and a dedicated team — they have been able to reach out to 33 different communities, serving 2,000 meals a day. Their mission is not only to help feed their communities but to engage and form relationships with them. They love to talk to the families and learn more about them. For example, they provide SLAM nights where kids can interact with one another for a fun night of games.
Arkansas Dream Center wants to do more than just feed their communities. They want to help alleviate the stress these families face when trying to meet their needs. They want these families to be able to focus on reaching their goals and dreams instead.
